Video search engines are extremely popular and provide millions of daily responses to people performing online video search enquiries.
There are only a handful of these specialists including Blinkx, Fooooo, Truveo and Pixsy. There are some others but I am limiting my information to these four.
These engines provide the bulk of video searches while there are some other general search engines like Alta Vista and Mamma which also have video sections within their framework.
People like to watch videos and therefore the demand for this type of information has skyrocketed in the last few years. All sorts of internet information is now supplied by video and this has strengthened the need for specialist video search engines in their own right.
Youtube provides millions of videos but it is more like an online video library than a search engine.
As these specialist engines are not commonly known most people still use Google, Yahoo, Live or Ask to find their URL’s.
Here are the specialist links for you together with Altavista and Mamma.
I have listed the links for Google, Yahoo, Live and Ask further down the page.
There are other mediums of course, but they do not have the vast database of information that Google and Yahoo have, and therefore may not be able to provide the most relevant information for you.
Because the specialist video search engines are not commonly known nearly all searchers would use Google, Yahoo, Live or Ask to first find the video search engines and then search there for the video they are looking for.
This “Video Search Engines” page will begin to show some rankings in a few weeks and people searching on Google, will be able to find it. The process of submitting, spidering and listing sometimes can take a little time.
While Google is by far the largest search engine some searchers have preferences. They may like to search on Yahoo only, or Live or Ask etc.
However, as indicated before when the search is conducted through engines with smaller databases the results may not be as relevant. It depends on how some smaller engines provide the results though, as some of them default to Google or Yahoo. So you get Google or Yahoo results even though you search through a smaller engine.
The only difference may be is if the smaller engine is a little slower to provide the information and sometimes not as much of it.
Feel free to contact me directly through the “Contact me” box at the bottom of this page.
I hope you have found the information you want through the abovementioned video search engines.
